A man who for 15 years eluded United States federal officials was captured in Jamaica.
Keemeit Melaun Hand was captured during a joint US-Jamaica investigation after intelligence suggested that he might have fled to Jamaica.
According to reports, investigators analysed suspicious records of a relative of Hand, which led their investigations to a residence in St Andrew.
During surveillance yesterday, investigators reportedly observed a male arrive at the house.
Authorities from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) then detained the subject, who produced identification that turned out to be fraudulent.
The subject admitted that he really was Keemeit Hand. C-TOC took him into custody ending a more than 15-year flight from justice.
Hand is to be deported to Georgia, where a federal grand jury indicted him for possession with the intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.
