Seventeen (17) individuals arrived in Jamaica today after being deported from the United Kingdom on a chartered flight.
According to the British Home Office these individuals have a combined sentence of 75 years and one life sentence.
This includes a combined total of 15.5 years for rape, 16 years for violent offences, almost 29 years for drug-related offences, including Class A drugs, and 14 years for robbery with possession of firearms.
A last minute attempt was made yesterday by lobby groups to stop the deportation, however it did not stop these individuals who make up the minority of those who were scheduled for deportation from arriving today.
