Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have been plunged into mourning following the death of two police officers in the last 24 hours.
The District Constable 27-year-old Duran Smith was shot while visiting the home of one of his colleagues at the Aviary Housing Scheme in Old Harbour last Friday.
He died in hospital yesterday.
The other officer is a police Sergeant.
He was shot and killed in Caymanas, Gregory Park, St Catherine this morning.
The police say the incident occurred some time after 2 this morning while the sergeant was leaving an event.
He was reportedly sitting in a car with two females when men wearing masks ambushed and shot him.
He was pronounced dead at hospital.
