Lindbergh ‘Lindy’ Delapenha, the legendary Jamaican sportsman and television broadcaster, has died.
Delapenha reportedly passed away on Thursday morning. He was 89.
Former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is among those who have taken to social media to mourn the loss of Delapenha.
“Sending condolences to the family and friends of Lloyd Lindbergh ‘Lindy’ Delapenha. Legendary Jamaican Footballer and Sportsman. We have lost a quiet giant and a trailblazer in football and sports broadcasting,” Simpson Miller wrote on Facebook.
Fae Ellington, who co-hosted JBC’s morning programme with Delapenha for many years, said: “So long Lindy. No more risqué jokes…sharing secrets. No more birthday lunches and dinner…but what a catawampus time we had…on and off the air!
“Now I’ll laugh for both of us. Walk good mi fren! Nuff love always,” Ellington added.
