Green Pond High Mourns As 15-Year-Old Student Is Murdered

Classes have been suspended at the Green Pond High School in St James as overwhelmed teachers and students mourn the murder of a 15-year-old Shineka Gray..

Gray’s decomposing body was found on Riverside Drive in Granville, St James on Wednesday evening three days after she went missing . There were multiple stab wounds to the upper parts of the body.

Some grieving students fainted during morning devotions. At least five of them also had to seek medical attention and were transported to hospital.

Principal Michael Ellis said the school community has been left in deep sorrow. He said Gray was a very active, smart student who will be sorely missed.

Ellis was prompted to dismiss classes in the lower school because of the high level of trauma affecting students and staff. He noted that grades 10 and 11 students would remain behind for grief counselling.
